God In Shame(Last post book review of Rabindranath tagore)

I wanted to make the most of this last post related to book review “Letters to Friend”.

“Jallinwala Bagh” incident mentioned in book convinced me to imagine how the sensitive poet must had gone through tough time of handling such a big cruelty on humanity.

Tagore restored his mental health after renunciation of his knighthood honour as a protest. His words

They hated and killed, and men praised them,But God in shame hastened to hide its memory under the green grass.

This short documentary on you tube will explain more about Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar now is one of famous Tourist place in detail:

The game of atrocity will colour the eyes red to watch its glory and the shining sun will not leave a single wound unnoticed. We tend not to forget the day, feel the intense dance of peace bell, allowing rising tension to accept the friendship of silence.

To walk together in harmony,to draft the dream of freedom, still so many songs are waiting to dance in rythmn with letters of blissfullness.

This small attempt to backtrack mind to feel the level of intensity has surely filled with pearls of emotions for which,I will always be grateful to such a Great Writer Shri Rabindranath Tagore.

Feeling Blessed to be part of such a old Book(Letters to Friend)

This book is very old and Tagore’s hand writing along with an old stamp is absolute bonus ,feeling so lucky to borrow from the local library.

I must say this book is deep work of consciousness. The writer’s acceptance of his inner and outer world with full grace, glorified situations on positive note every single time, with his all time favourite companionship of nature. So far I have read only around 40 pages but I can feel an intense stillness which made its path through acceptance and deep realisation of life. Before the actual chapters begin, there is an essay on personality of Tagore gives insight how he found his bonding with nature in its fullest expression. These lines showcases, how he witnessed silently

“Sometimes I would pass many months alone without speaking ,till the voice grew thin & weak due to lack of use”.

The essay summarises influencing factors and how Tagore’s consciousness progressed towards using literature for country’s well-being resulted in opening a school in the lap of nature named as “Shantiniketan”.This video gives a good presentation of the place’s art work with Bengali language in the background.

This line touched me“I know that I must pass through death.God Knows it is the death-pang that is tearing open my heart”.Tagore had given death a liberating and an eternal truth face, clearly reflects how much he was in pain when surrounded by death of family members. As an artist,he took death as clay and moulded completely into a different shape.

I completely feel that I would be hunting lots of words to do full justice with the book review in the next post.

When Ignorance becomes important

Hare Krishna

krishna udhav

This short story of Udhav who was best friend and devotee of Krishna explains very beautifully knowledge becomes not just boring after a certain point,it becomes source of proud, which harms the personality . Udhav who claimed himself very knowledgeable person and loving Krishna, easily became a proud person which was leading to degrading of personality.

The beauty of true association with Krishna is he fully takes care of you and lets you free from any personality impurity.Krishna immediately sent him Vrindavan(highest spiritual place in the world) asked him to give message to all his loving gopis. He instantly followed the orders and left for Vrindavan.

Vrindavan’s gopis madly went to Udhav to inquire about Krishna, they soon started complaining about Krishna, asking several questions about his lifestyle, along with tears in their eyes.Seeing all this Udhav got initial impression of gopis i.e.full of ignorance and felt they are just wasting their time.As a great scholar,he immediately started explaining  about Karma, life, death, and insisting importance of  reading scriptures. All gopis found him extremely boring, they straightway said”what they would do by gaining all knowledge when their minds are always occupied by memories of Krishna “.

These long lectures on life, death are full of dissatisfaction if you are not loving Krishna by thinking of his different leelas. Udhav was deeply affected by the way he saw gopis fully immersed in unconditional love for Krishna and specially when he met Radha.Gopis taught Udhav to fall in love, lose yourself let everything go, to feel melting of soul just like when a river loses itself when it meets sea. This is feature of true devotee who lets everything go and live only for Unconditional Love which is nothing but Krishna.

Udhav shredded all his knowledge proudness and started feeling like gopis and returned to Krishna by chanting his name along with Vrindavan soil’s dust on his head.
